Welcome to the STM UK featured products page. In this section of the website we like to shine the spotlight on the products we are most excited about and try to give them a little bit of the attention they deserve.
This time round we are proud to present to you our Middle - Heavy Duty Gearbox Range. This includes the fantastic GSM 800 Series of Parallel Shaft and Bevel Helical Gearboxes and also our exciting EX range of Planetary Gearboxes……please enjoy responsibly!!!
The RXP and RXO Gearbox range is an extension of the Parallel Shaft and Bevel Helical range that was already on offer in our existing PM and OM ranges. The range now extends from fractional hp Geared motors right up to units with torques exceeding 700,000nm.
We also offer a range of application specific Gearboxes for industries including Bucket Elevators, Cooling Towers, Lifting and Extruding.
RXP – Parallel Shaft Gearboxes
The800 Series of Parallel Shaft Gearboxes are available with ratios from 1.11/1 to 800/1. They can achieve output torques from 1400nm up to 700,000nm and everything in-between. This exciting range of gearboxes can be offered with a range of inputs to suit your application including shaft input, IEC motor input and coupling input. Add to this the range of outputs available – hollow bore, solid shaft, splined + flanged – and you have an incredibly versatile + dependable gearbox.
RXO – Bevel Helical Gearboxes
The Bevel Helical gearboxes of the 800 Series are available with ratios from 4/1 up to 4839/1. With the torque range similar to that of the RXP gearboxes – up to 700,000 – you can be sure we can offer a solution to even the most exacting application. This range of Bevel Helical Gearboxes feature helical spur gear sets which are case hardened, hardened and in volute profile is ground. The bevel gears sets are case hardened, hardened and tempered before being run in. With various input, output and mounting options available and add on’s such as forced lubrication + aggressive paint finish you would be correct in thinking that almost any application can be realised with our fantastic range.
Common features of the 800 Series Heavy Duty Gearboxes

- Gear unit dimensions and Transmission ratios that follow a generic progression based on the Rs20 series of preferred (Renard) numbers as per UNI 2016.68.68
- Broad range of ratios.
- High ratio density allowing for the selection of a smaller gearbox size.
- Split casing and bolted covers for ease of maintenance.
- Excellent gear geometry and high machining accuracy mean low noise levels and optimal operating efficiency.
EX – Planetary Gearboxes
Last, but certainly not least, is our exciting range of Planetary Gearboxes. Planetary Gearboxes are compact yet extremely robust and are ideal for severe applications where shock loading is the norm. This is a relatively new product for STM (3 years) and the range is constantly expanding, however, even now we can offer Gearboxes with output torques exceeding 70,000nm. With ratios ranging from 3.5/1 all the way up to 2500/1 most requirements can be catered for. The EX range is also versatile with various options on the mounting, gear layout, output shaft and motor interface. A selection of motors can be supplied fitted to your Planetary Gearbox and include Hydraulic Motors, Electric Motors and Pneumatic Motors. The quality of the EX range is second to none with all gears being ground for minimal noise whilst in operation.
